When you don’t feel good enough….

girl hugging tree

"Nothing I ever do is good enough! … My coworkers and friends are all way ahead of me!… As a child, if I brought home a B instead of an A on my report card, I felt terrified!… I'm a horrible mother, wife, husband, student, etc. … I clean the house, cook, work, and take care of everyone, but I still get criticized!"

Do these thoughts sound familiar? Do you feel like you can never be good enough?

The truth is that everyone is human, and as humans, we are not meant to be perfect.

You are meant to evolve, grow, and change. Yes, we are all imperfect. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have compassion towards yourself, just like you may have for others.

Everyone is on their own path. There is no comparison. You are so unique and individual that nobody can have the same thoughts, feelings, gifts, talents, experiences, etc.

You were BORN enough. When other people say negative words to you that make you feel like you are not enough, or not doing enough, it is a lie. Because the truth is that you are, and have always been, ENOUGH, and always will be.

If your caretakers who raised you as a child instilled feelings of inadequacy in you, know that it is a reflection of their own feelings of not being enough. It is NEVER about you.

Your mind will make you believe anything, so why not believe that you are good enough just how you are now?

So you can STOP telling yourself the story that you are not enough.

Instead cultivate self-compassion and self-love. There is an infinite supply of this available to you from Source. You don't need to get it from anyone outside of yourself. It all comes from within.

'She sat at the back and they said she was shy,

She led from the front and they hated her pride,

They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance,

They branded her loud, then were shocked by her silence,

When she shared no ambition they said it was sad,

So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad,

They told her they'd listen, then covered their ears,

And gave her a hug while they laughed at her fears,

And she listened to all of it thinking she should,

Be the girl they told her to be best as she could,

But one day she asked what was best for herself,

Instead of trying to please everyone else,

So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees,

She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves,

She spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine,

And she told them what she'd been told time after time,

She told them she felt she was never enough,

She was either too little or far far too much,

Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak,

Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek,

Then she found a small clearing surrounded by firs,

And she stopped...and she heard what the trees said to her,

And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave,

For the forest said nothing, it just let her breathe'
