EMDR Therapy Online to Increase Self-Esteem

self love

Having a secure sense of self may be the key to having success in your career and relationships. Perhaps you would love to feel confident, relaxed, and calm in company meetings. Or maybe you want to dive into an entirely new career field but feel frozen in fear that you may fail. You may find that you always attract romantic partners or friendships that are overbearing and insensitive. And it seems like you either don’t matter to them or you can never do anything right. You may have a scarcity mindset; that is, you use the excuse of there’s never enough time, money, energy, good partners, etc., etc. If you feel any of these feelings, or feel stuck, doubtful, scared, unmotivated, and engage in people-pleasing behaviors, you may have low self-esteem.

Where do these belief patterns come from? Many of these originate from family-of-origin experiences, such as parental divorce, abuse, neglect, bullying, or any trauma experienced before adulthood. If one or more of your parents were neglectful, abusive, suffered from depression, or used substances, you probably did not receive the nurturing you needed to develop a healthy foundation in order to manage the ups and downs of life.

EMDR is a type of therapy that gets to the core of your low self-esteem by activating memories from the past and identifying the negative core beliefs that have been running your life. Some of the common negative core beliefs that cause low self-esteem are not feeling you are good enough, feeling unloved, feeling helpless, and feeling unsafe.

EMDR therapy can be done online and is a guided experience by a trained EMDR-therapist. The therapist provides a safe place, attuning to your individual needs and allowing you to bring up uncomfortable feelings while staying present so that you are not overwhelmed by the emotional pain. You and your EMDR therapist are a team in this process, and you are always in control. It is a fascinating and efficient process to healing core issues without years of talk therapy.

If any of this resonates with you, it may be worth it to explore if EMDR is right for you. Many of my clients use their insurance to cover the fees for doing EMDR therapy online via Zoom. Contact me at www.suemcreetherapy.com/contact for a free phone consultation to explore more about it.
